Naturopathic medicine is a system and philosophy of medicine that has been around for hundreds, maybe thousands, of years. Just before the advent of ‘conventional’ medicine, which uses a wide variety of drugs and surgical procedures, virtually each and every physician learned how to use herbs, minerals, homeopathy, and other natural strategies to treat disease.

Dr. Elizabeth Large is a licensed and board-certified Naturopathic Doctor. Elizabeth Big earned the degree, ND (Physician of Naturopathic Medicine) from Southwest College, Tempe, Arizona, a four-year, accredited naturopathic medical school. She is licensed through the state of California. She has significant teaching experience, including instruction of anatomy, physiology and nutrition. Dr. Significant worked at Recovery Systems Clinic with Julia Ross, treating mood disorders, addiction, eating disorders and stress-induced illness Elizabeth has led healing groups for ladies and is the founder of Spiral Women’s Health, a collaborative of professional female health practitioners. Elizabeth has numerous years of experience working to support people attain their health goals, physically and emotionally.                                           Chapter 12:  A Psychosomatic  Body

            It was duyring my five years of teaching high school that I began to see the several consequences of my particularly psychosomatic nature.  Indeed, mind, body and spirit are extremely connected and perhaps even more so in me.   My blood pressure and blood sugar fell low and upon being given a glucose tolerance test, it was discovered that my blood sugar was going up and down with out consuming.  The physician said that my adrenaline was reacting to life situations as if the house had been on fire and I went in to carry out a refrigerator.  Thus it was that I was put on sedatives to quiet down my enfdocrine systerm. 

            Usually being a very good sleeper, I was then additional tired as I fought against the sedatives to continue my typical activity.  By the time school was over, I was so really tired that I began a pattern of asking to retire early.  I would come home from school, stop in chapel to pray, pick up some supper in the kitchen and retire to my room where I would correct as several papers as I could just before falling into bed in utter exhaustion only to rise at 5:00 a.m and start all over.  To make matters worse, myu scruples whcih had plagued me off and 1 throughout my life returned with a vehemence and I was genuinely in a dark night of the soul.
